Ingredients
- Half a package + 1 tablespoon of butter (145 grams)
- 1 cup of granulated sugar (250 grams)
- A little more than half a cup of flour (65 grams)
- 3/4 (half plus a quarter) cup cocoa (80 grams)
- 1 vanilla bean
- Half a teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- Walnuts, hazelnuts, and chocolate chips as desired (optional)
Preparation
- Pour a little water into a saucepan and bring it to a boil. Place a mixing bowl on top, add the butter, sugar, and cocoa, and melt them using the double boiler method.
- Remove the melted mixture from the heat, add the vanilla, and stir; then add the salt and stir again.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Finally, add the flour and mix until fully incorporated.
- If you’d like, you can also add walnuts, hazelnuts, and chocolate chips and mix them in.
- Pour the batter into a small square baking pan or baking dish that has been greased and floured or lined with parchment paper, and bake at 160 degrees for about 30 minutes, then let it cool.
- Slice the cooled cake and serve.
