Ingredients
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1 tablespoon instant dry yeast
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter (to be melted)
  • 1 piece egg
  • 4 cups flour
  • Chocolate hazelnut cream
  • Powdered sugar
Preparation
  1. In making Ponçik, first for the pre-yeast; pour warm milk 1 cup into a small bowl. Add 1 tablespoon instant dry yeast and 3 tablespoons granulated sugar onto the milk.
  2. Mix well with the help of a wire whisk. Let it sit on the side until it rises slightly up to 5 minutes.
  3. On the other side, crack 1 piece eggs into another deep bowl. Add 4 tablespoons liquid oil and the butter you melted with 1 tablespoon on top, and mix well.
  4. Then, add the pre-yeast you prepared at the beginning to this mixture and mix 1-2 times again.
  5. Finally, add the flour gradually to the bowl until 4 cups.
  6. Knead well until you obtain a quite soft and smooth dough that does not stick to your hands.
  7. Cover the ponçik dough you prepared and leave it to ferment in a warm environment for 1 hour.
  8. Open the top of the fermented dough, and knead it again with your hands for a short time. Then, divide the dough into two equal parts.
  9. Take one of the doughs and make a smooth ball with your hand. Roll out the dough into a circle using a rolling pin so that it is not too thick. Cut the dough you have rolled out into three equal triangular pieces with the help of a knife 8.
  10. Put chocolate hazelnut cream on the wide part of each triangular piece.
  11. To prevent the chocolate from leaking from the sides, fold the edges of the wide part inwards.
  12. Then slowly roll the dough into a roll shape.
  13. Arrange the chocolate ponçiki that you have rolled into a roll shape onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Leave it to ferment in the tray for 15 minutes again.
  14. Then place it in a preheated 180 degrees oven.
  15. Bake 15-20 minutes until they are slightly pinkish.
  16. After the Ponçikler are cooked, take them out of the oven and let them cool in the tray. Then, sprinkle powdered sugar on top and you can serve them.
