It’s a fantastic treat that’s a cross between ekmek kadayıf and Kemalpaşa dessert.
Ingredients
- 1 package of liquid cream (200 ml)
- 1 heaping cup of flour
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 2.5 cups of water
- 2 cups of granulated sugar
- 3 drops of lemon juice
Preparation
- To make cloud dessert, start by preparing the syrup. To do this, place 2 cups of granulated sugar, 2½ cups of water, and 3 drops of lemon juice in a medium-sized, deep saucepan. Place the pot on the stove and stir until the sugar dissolves. Then bring it to a boil. Once the syrup comes to a boil, let it boil for another 5 minutes. Then remove it from the heat and let it cool to room temperature.
- For the dough: Place 1 package of liquid cream in a bowl.
- Add 1 heaping cup of flour and 1 teaspoon of baking powder.
- Mix the dough thoroughly with a soft-tipped spatula until it comes together.
- Next, pour a little vegetable oil into a small bowl. Lightly grease your hands, then take pieces of dough slightly smaller than a walnut. Roll them into balls with your hands and place them on a greased baking sheet.
- Place the prepared pastries in a preheated 180-degree oven. Bake for about 30 minutes.
- Once the pastries are done, remove them from the oven. Let them cool for 1 minute to allow the initial heat to subside. Then, to help the dessert absorb the syrup more easily, pierce the baked dough pieces with a toothpick and pour the cold syrup over them. Cover the baking sheet and let it sit like this for about 35 minutes.
- Then flip the desserts over and let them sit for about 15–20 minutes so the syrup soaks into the top.
- Arrange the prepared cloud desserts on a serving plate. Sprinkle green powdered pistachios or shredded coconut on top, and serve.
