A delicious dessert recipe that will be a hit with your guests thanks to its presentation and flavor.
Ingredients
- 18 unsalted breadsticks
- 1 liter of milk
- 6 tablespoons of granulated sugar
- 6 tablespoons of flour
- 2.5 tablespoons of cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon of butter
- 1 packet of vanilla
- 2.5 cups of water
- 3 drops of lemon juice
- 1 packet of whipped cream mix
- 1 glass of cold milk
Preparation
- First, prepare the custard for the two-layer etimek dessert. Pour 1 liter of milk into a deep saucepan. Add 6 tablespoons of granulated sugar, 6 tablespoons of flour, and 2½ tablespoons of cornstarch. Place the pot on the stove. Cook, stirring constantly, until it thickens to a rich consistency.
- Once the custard is cooked, add 1 packet of vanilla and 1 tablespoon of butter, then stir. Remove from the heat.
- Meanwhile, for the syrup: Place 2 glasses of granulated sugar and 2½ glasses of water in a small, deep saucepan. Place the saucepan on the stove. Stir constantly until the sugar dissolves, then bring to a boil. Once the syrup has come to a boil, add 3 drops of lemon juice. Boil for about 5 more minutes, then remove from the heat. Next, arrange 9 unsalted etimek on the bottom of a medium-sized rectangular baking dish.
- Pour half of the hot syrup over the etimek, making sure to soak them thoroughly.
- Pour half of the prepared muhallebi over the etimek and spread it evenly.
- Dip the remaining 9 unsalted phyllo sheets into the syrup, or use a ladle to moisten both sides on a plate.
- Arrange the syrup-soaked phyllo sheets on top of the custard.
- Then pour the remaining custard over the phyllo sheets and spread it evenly. Let the dessert cool to room temperature.
- Finally, place 1 packet of whipped cream mix into a deep bowl. Pour in cold milk—1 finger’s width less than 1 glass—and beat with a mixer until it reaches a thick consistency.
- Spread the whipped cream over the prepared two-layer etimek dessert.
- Let the dessert rest in the refrigerator overnight.
- After it has rested in the refrigerator, you can decorate the top of the two-layer etimek dessert as desired and serve.
