Easy Comb Dessert? The "Easy Comb Dessert" recipe found in dozens of people's cookbooks, and...
Ingredients
- 1 tea glass vegetable oil
- 1 tea glass semolina
- 1 tea glass shredded coconut
- 1 tea glass yogurt
- 1 tea glass powdered sugar
- 125 g margarine (about 3 tablespoons; butter may also be used)
- 2 eggs (reserve the yolk of one for the top)
- Flour as needed
- 1 packet baking powder
- 1 vanilla extract
- An unused comb for shaping
- 1 bowl of chopped walnuts or hazelnuts (I used walnuts)
- 1 egg yolk
- 4 cups sugar
- 4.5 cups water
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Preparation
- For the syrup, take a saucepan, add water, sugar, and lemon juice, bring to a boil for 15 minutes, then set aside to cool
- First, take a mixing bowl and add the oil, coconut, semolina, yogurt, and melted margarine, then whisk until combined.
- Add the baking powder and vanilla, then slowly knead the mixture by hand.
- Add the flour a little at a time and knead thoroughly until the dough reaches an ear lobe-like consistency.
- Divide the prepared dough into equal pieces. I made pieces slightly smaller than walnuts.
- Place one of the prepared dough pieces on a comb, roll it out, place a level teaspoon of walnuts inside, and pinch the edges together to form a teardrop shape.
- Once all the pieces are done, whisk the egg and oil together, brush the mixture onto the prepared pastries, and top with hazelnuts, walnuts, or almonds.
- Bake in a preheated 180°C oven for 35 minutes. Baking time may vary depending on your oven, so be sure to check on them.
- Once the dessert has cooled slightly, pour the syrup over it.
- After letting it rest for about 2–3 hours, you can decorate it however you like.
- Our dessert is ready to serve. If you make it, I’d love to see a photo!
