Ingredients
- 6 square sheets of puff pastry
- 1 large banana
- 2 glasses of milk
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 packet vanilla
- Powdered sugar
Preparation
- To make puff pastry dessert, start by preparing the custard. Pour 2 cups of milk into a small saucepan. Crack 1 egg into it. Add 1 tablespoon of cornstarch, 2 tablespoons of flour, and 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar. Place the saucepan on the stove. Cook, stirring constantly, until the custard thickens.
- Once the custard is cooked, stir in 1 tablespoon of butter and half a packet of vanilla. Then set it aside to cool.
- Meanwhile, remove 6 square puff pastry sheets from the freezer and let them sit until slightly softened. Then cut each sheet in half. You can also cut them into quarters if you prefer.
- Arrange the cut puff pastry pieces on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Place them in a preheated 180-degree oven.
- Bake until the tops are lightly browned.
- Once the puff pastry is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool. Then, use a knife to separate the layers of the cooled puff pastry.
- Fill the inner parts of the puff pastry with the prepared custard and place 2–3 banana slices inside.
- Finally, sprinkle plenty of powdered sugar over the banana-and-custard puff pastry dessert and let it rest for about 20–25 minutes.
- You can serve this puff pastry dessert with tea or coffee. If desired, you can also garnish the top with chocolate sauce.
