Check out our recipe for milk-based kadayif dessert, which takes a total of 55 minutes—20 minutes of prep time and 35 minutes of cooking time.
Ingredients
- 2 glasses of milk
- 1 glass of water
- 1.5 glasses of granulated sugar
- 250 g fresh shredded kadayif
- 125 g butter (melted)
- 1 glass of chopped walnuts
- Chopped Antep pistachios
- For an attractive presentation, you can sprinkle coconut, cinnamon, ground Antep pistachios, or rose petals on top of the dessert.
- For those who prefer a lighter taste, adding a scoop of ice cream, clotted cream, or whipped cream on top when serving is also a great option.
Preparation
- 1. To make the syrup, combine the milk, water, and granulated sugar in a saucepan.
- 2. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- 3. Once it comes to a boil, turn off the heat and let the syrup cool to room temperature.
- 4. For the kadayif: Separate the strands by hand to fluff them up.
- 5. Mix thoroughly with melted butter and let rest for about 5 minutes to allow the butter to soak in.
- 6. Grease a baking dish with butter.
- 7. Tear off orange-sized pieces of kadayif and lay them lengthwise on the counter.
- 8. Sprinkle with crushed walnuts and roll them up.
- 9. Prepare all the kadayif in the same way and arrange them side by side in the baking dish.
- 10. Bake the prepared kadayif in a preheated 200-degree oven for about 25 minutes, until the tops turn golden brown.
- 11. Then, move the baking dish to the lower part of the oven and bake for another 10 minutes to ensure the bottoms brown nicely as well.
- 12. Drizzle the lukewarm milk syrup—which you’ve let sit at room temperature—over the hot kadayif as soon as it comes out of the oven.
- 13. Let it rest at room temperature until the dessert has fully absorbed the syrup.
- 14. Finally, sprinkle crushed Antep pistachios and walnuts on top before serving.
- 15. Add an exquisite flavor to your table with this milk-based kadayif dessert—crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
