Making Meringue from Leftover Egg Whites
How to Make Meringue from Leftover Egg Whites? This recipe, which is in dozens of people’s notebooks, and...
Ingredients
- 3 egg whites
- 1 glass of sugar
- A pinch of salt
- 1 packet of vanilla (optional)
Preparation
- Combine all the ingredients in a deep mixing bowl and beat with a mixer until the mixture reaches a thick consistency. (I sometimes add vanilla and sometimes I don’t—it’s up to you. Also, my eggs were large.)
- The beating process takes a while. If the mixture doesn’t fall out when you turn the bowl upside down, it’s ready. Also, the sugar should be fully dissolved. To check, rub a small amount between your index finger and thumb—it should have a smooth consistency.
- Stretch a thick freezer bag over a large glass or deep bowl and pour the prepared meringue mixture into it. Cut a very small opening at the tip and pipe the mixture onto a baking sheet, spacing them apart.
- Be careful not to cut the end of the bag too much. Of course, it’s easier if you have a piping bag. The size is up to you. Mine actually turned out a bit small. Bake in a 100-degree oven for about 1 hour. Once cooled, they’re ready to serve. To those who want to try it, I wish you
