Is This My Natural Purple Carrot Slice Baklava? This recipe and...
Ingredients
1 egg
A little less than 1 coffee cup of vegetable oil—I didn’t fill it all the way
A little more than half a coffee cup of purple carrot juice, plus a little regular water
1 level teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons vinegar
2 water glasses of flour (A water glass measures 250 ml; a coffee cup measures 85 ml)
1 purple carrot
2 water glasses of walnuts
Starch
200 butter
1 tea glass vegetable oil
2 water glasses sugar
1.5 water glasses water
A quarter of a lemon
Preparation
First, I made the syrup and let it cool. After the syrup came to a boil, I turned down the heat and let it simmer for another 20 minutes, then set it aside to cool.
We need to pour the syrup over the purple baklava while it’s still cold so the baklava doesn’t get soggy—now let’s move on to the dough.
In a mixing bowl, combine all the ingredients and knead well. Knead the dough for about five minutes, then wrap it in plastic wrap and let it rest in the refrigerator for one hour.
After one hour, remove the dough, divide it into 16 pieces, and start rolling them out with cornstarch.
First, coat the pieces generously with cornstarch, then roll them out one by one.
Place the first rolled-out piece in a round baking dish, then continue rolling and layering them one by one.
Add the filling every four layers.
I used walnuts, but you can use pistachios instead.
We prepare and arrange all the pieces.
For the carrot slices, first cut them into quarters as shown in the picture, then cut each quarter into two pieces.
Pour the melted oil—which isn’t too hot—over the top.
Using a spoon, we form mounds as shown in the picture so they puff up nicely.
We bake our dessert in an oven preheated to 180 degrees, keeping a close eye on it.
After baking, we pour cold syrup over it; let it sit for 1 hour, and it’s ready to serve.
