Cake Pops (Chocolate Balls Made from Stale Cake)? This recipe, which is in dozens of people’s cookbooks, and...
Ingredients
- 5 slices of stale almond-chocolate chip cake (Any type of cake will do; it just needs to be 1–2 days old)
- 50 ml milk
- Half a package of shredded coconut
- 1 package of cake sprinkles
- 95 gr dark chocolate
Preparation
- Crumble the cookies into a medium-sized bowl. (If you prefer, you can do this in a food processor.)
- Add the milk.
- Knead the mixture.
- If the dough forms a ball when you pick it up, stop kneading.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, shape the mixture into balls, and arrange them on the sheet.
- Chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. • Melt 80 g of chocolate using the double boiler method.
- Once melted, remove from the heat, add the remaining 15 g of chocolate to the bowl, and stir. (This is called tempering. It helps balance the chocolate’s temperature.)
- Dip the mixture into the chocolate using a spoon
- Once all sides are coated in chocolate, use a skewer, toothpick, or fork to press them into shredded coconut or cake sprinkles, then place them on wax paper.
- Let them sit on the wax paper for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a serving plate.
