Donut? The Donut Recipe and...
Ingredients
- 3 eggs
- 1½ cups milk
- 1 cup + 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon dry yeast
- 5 cups flour
- 2 tea cups vegetable oil (for frying)
- 1 package of butter
- 3½ cups of powdered sugar
- ½ cup of milk powder
- 1½ tea cups of hot water
Preparation
- First, whisk together the milk, yeast, and sugar, then set it aside.
- Next, in a separate bowl, whisk the butter and egg, then add the yeast mixture and stir to combine.
- Gradually add the flour and begin kneading; the dough should not be too firm.
- Transfer the dough to a larger bowl, grease both the bowl and the dough, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rest.
- Leave it in a warm place for about 1 hour. The dough should double in size.
- Flour the rested dough and roll it out with a rolling pin—it shouldn’t be too thick, or the inside won’t cook through.
- Cut out round shapes using a glass; if you have a cookie cutter, you can use it for the center—you’ll need a small, round cutter.
- Repeat this process until all the dough is used up. Fry the dough in hot oil for about 5–7 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix powdered sugar, milk powder, and water until you get a smooth, homogeneous consistency, then strain it through a sieve to ensure it’s smooth.
- Pour this glaze over the cooked donuts. If you like, you can decorate them with store-bought or homemade chocolate sauce before serving.
