Gluten-Free Orange Dessert
Gluten-Free Orange Dessert? This recipe, which is in dozens of people’s cookbooks, and...
Ingredients
- Gluten-Free Semolina Pudding
- 1.5 cups granulated sugar
- 1.5 cups water
- 1 liter milk
- 2 heaping tablespoons gluten-free flour
- 3 heaping tablespoons gluten-free cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon butter/margarine
- 1 package Dr. Oetker vanilla
- 2 cups orange juice
- 2 tablespoons gluten-free cornstarch
Preparation
- Arrange the etimek in a baking dish. For the syrup, place the sugar in a saucepan. Stir over the heat until it melts and changes color slightly. Carefully add water to the melted sugar. The sugar will harden. Don’t worry—just stir occasionally over the heat until it melts. Boil for 10 minutes. Pour the prepared syrup over the etimek.
- For the cream, combine milk, sugar, gluten-free flour, and gluten-free cornstarch in a saucepan and cook until it boils and thickens.
- Remove from the heat and add vanilla and butter. Stir until the butter melts while the mixture is still hot.
- Pour the hot cream over the etimek, which have absorbed the syrup, and let them cool slightly.
- For the orange sauce: Combine freshly squeezed orange juice, gluten-free cornstarch, and sugar in a saucepan and cook until it boils and thickens.
- Pour the sauce over the cooled cream.
- Smooth the top and let it sit until it reaches room temperature. Once at room temperature, place the dessert in the refrigerator and let it rest for 5–6 hours. After the resting period, slice it and serve with orange slices. I highly recommend giving this a try—enjoy!
