Ingredients
- 200 grams butter, softened at room temperature
- Half a glass of vegetable oil
- Half a glass of powdered sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 glass of semolina
- 1 packet of baking powder
- 1 packet of vanilla
- 3. 5 cups flour
- ½ cup milk
- 1 packet blue poppy seeds
- ½ cup chopped hazelnuts
- 3 cups sugar
- 4 cups water
- 3 drops lemon juice
Preparation
- First, prepare the syrup. After it has boiled for 15 minutes, squeeze in the lemon juice; let it boil like that for about 5 more minutes, then turn off the heat and let it cool.
- The syrup will be cold, and the dessert will be warm.
- Next, place all the ingredients except the flour in a bowl and mix them together, then begin kneading with your hands until the mixture is smooth.
- Gradually add the flour and knead the dough.
- Once you’ve finished kneading, take pieces of the dough and start rolling them into balls.
- Pour the milk into a bowl, dip the rolled dough pieces in it, then coat them evenly with poppy seeds on all sides.
- Arrange them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Then press a hazelnut into the center of each one.
- Bake in a preheated 180-degree oven until the top of the dessert turns golden brown.
- Remove the baked dessert from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes to allow the initial heat to dissipate.
- Exactly 5 minutes later, start pouring the cooled syrup over the entire dessert using a ladle.
- Let it rest for about 1 hour. Then it’s ready to serve.
