Sweet with Kadayıf and Syrup
A delicious dessert recipe that combines the classic flavor of şekerpare with the crispiness of kadayıf.
Ingredients
- 125 g butter (at room temperature)
- 1/2 tea glass vegetable oil
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons semolina
- 2 tablespoons yogurt
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1 packet vanilla
- 1 packet baking powder
- 1 tea glass finely chopped walnuts
- 1 water glass toasted kadayif
- 2.5 water glasses flour
- 3.5 water glasses water
- 3 water glasses granulated sugar
- 4 drops lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons molasses
Preparation
- To make a kadayıf dessert with syrup: First, prepare the syrup for the dessert and set it aside to cool. To do this, add 3½ cups of water, 3 cups of granulated sugar, and 4–5 drops of lemon juice to a deep pot.
- Then, place the syrup on the stove. Stir constantly until the sugar dissolves, then bring it to a boil. Once it comes to a boil, continue boiling for about 15 more minutes.
- Then remove the syrup from the heat, pour 2 tablespoons of molasses into it, and stir. Set it aside to cool. The water glass measurement used in this recipe is 200 ml. The tea glass measurement is 110 ml.
- For the dessert dough: Place 125 g of room-temperature butter and half a tea glass of vegetable oil in a deep bowl. Next, add 1 egg, 2 tablespoons of semolina, 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons of yogurt, and 1 packet of vanilla to the bowl.
- Mix the ingredients well with a whisk.
- Next, add 1 water glass of toasted kadayif and 1 tea glass of finely chopped walnuts to the mixture, and mix again.
- Finally, gradually add 1 packet of baking powder and 2½ water glasses of flour to the bowl.
- Knead until you have a soft dough that doesn’t stick to your hands.
- Take pieces of the kadayif dough about the size of a walnut and roll them into balls with your hands. Coat the rolled dough balls in the toasted kadayif with your hands.
- Gently press down on the kadayif-coated dough balls and arrange them in a baking dish, leaving space between each one. Place them in an oven preheated to 170 degrees. Bake for about 20–25 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.
- Once the kadayif and walnut dessert is done baking, remove it from the oven and let it sit for 1 minute to cool slightly. Then, pour the syrup you prepared earlier and let cool over the warm dessert. The dessert will be warm, and the syrup will be cold.
- To ensure the syrup spreads more evenly, flip the desserts over after a while and let them sit in this position as well.
- Place the prepared kadayif dessert with syrup on a serving plate, garnish it as desired, and serve.
