Ingredients
- 4 cups flour (each cup is 200 ml)
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 250 g margarine or butter
- Optional (vanilla
Preparation
- Put the flour in a medium-sized pot and start to toast it. Meanwhile, you can melt the butter. Toast the flour over low heat for 20 minutes.
- Once the flour is toasted, add the melted butter.
- Toast the flour with the oil for 3–4 minutes, mashing it well with the back of a spoon. Remove from the heat, add the powdered sugar and vanilla, and repeat the process. Mash it well with the back of a spoon, then line a medium-sized baking dish with parchment paper.
- The parchment paper will help the halva come out easily; if you’d like, you can also sprinkle finely ground hazelnuts or walnuts on the bottom of the dish to make it even easier to remove. Using a spoon, carefully pour the halva into the baking dish.
- First, use a spoon, then a glass to press down and smooth out the halva.
- Use a sharp knife to cut the halva into the desired shapes.
- Then let it rest in the refrigerator for 2–3 hours.
- Afterward, take it out of the fridge and cut through the previously cut lines again. It’s ready to serve—enjoy it with tea or coffee. Good luck to those trying this very easy recipe!
