A Healthy Dessert (Harire with Molasses)? This recipe, which appears in the cookbooks of dozens of people, and...
Ingredients
- 4 cups water
- A little more than half a cup of grape molasses
- 1 heaping tablespoon of butter
- 3 heaping tablespoons of flour (1 cup minus one finger’s width)
- 3 heaping tablespoons of sugar
Preparation
- Combine all the ingredients in a pot and whisk thoroughly with a wire whisk until there are no lumps.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens.
- Once it starts to bubble, let it boil for another minute or two, then remove from the heat.
- Divide the cooked dessert into serving bowls. Once it has cooled completely, garnish as desired and serve, or turn it out onto a plate, garnish, and then serve. It’s wonderful with walnuts—I garnished it this way because I didn’t have any on hand.
